Hi.

Is it possible to fix the problem with joining blue servers?
Can i change any settings anywhere to fix it?

I've always been able to join blue servers.
Two months ago some settings were messed up so I couldn't host green servers.
My brother, network expert, fixed my settings.

I don't think I can help, then, but double check the router settings are in order.

After logging in the router admin menu,
Home networking > Static DHCP > make sure your IP is reserved; make a note of the IP Pool Starting Address
NAT > Port forwarding > all ports 23400, protocol: TCP/UDP; server IP address the same as the IP Pool Starting Address

"Blue" servers are primarily a host-side issue.

A server having a blue icon usually means that direct inbound connections are blocked for some reason. Typically, the server is behind a NAT system and the port used by OLX has not been forwarded.

To join these servers, OLX must use NAT traversal tricks which do not always work well.

Ask the host to do the port forwarding. :P Of course that's not always possible.

I'm not sure if there's anything you can do. NAT traversal depends on many things. What sort of internet connection are you using, what equipment etc? Are other players able to join the server?

I'm not sure how the NAT traversal functionality of OpenLierox works or if it could be improved. Perhaps I could open a ticket on Github...

How does one forward the port?

As far as i know only you,Pelya and Hathat are able to make servers that everyone can join.

Too tired for this but!::..

Do you use mobile network for trying to create server or in some CASES trying to join blue servers.

In this case some operators in Finland dont give you public ip.

https://stackoverflow.com/a/4385669

some operators give you opportunity to change public ip so after going to router setting and give it right settings youre able to join those magic blue server you always wanted. AND even better if you set up your router right you can also host freaking GREEN server.

Servers that can't be reached by direct connections are shown as blue in the server list.

Typically, the server is behind a router that performs NAT (network address translation) and the host has not forwarded the port of the game properly. In the case of carrier-grade NAT, which is somewhat common in mobile internet packages, port forwarding is usually not possible. Some mobile ISPs allow their customers to connect without CGNAT for premium price.

OpenLieroX can use NAT traversal tricks that can be used to join such servers, but such tricks do not always work well. It depends on the NAT configuration on both sides, server and client.

The latest 0.58 version of OpenLierox also supports IPv6 which is usually free of NAT issues, although firewalls must still be configured properly to allow the game traffic. And because many players still don't have IPv6, IPv4 is still important.
