How's the project?

Good. Everytime i want to post more info about development something else seems to come up.

I created a special mode for the game that spawns AI bots as seperate clients and they all connect to the same server. This way i can stress test the server quickly with 16 players all going nuts & doing random things.
I want to implement more things these bots do (time out, lag, bad packets, etc) so the server gets a real good workout & i can fix any stability issues.

As i mentioned in another post, i have the game up & running on the mac too. I'm a bit of a beginner on mac development, so it might be a work in progress for a bit longer than the windows version.

So that's pretty much where it's at

what about a user profile?

You mean like an account system to track player stats, etc?

I have something kinda like that in mind to keep track of games on dedicated servers. But first task is a playable game ;)

The bots aren't getting anymore work done to them.
But they are useful when simulating worms connecting to the server.

1: Is it possible for you to make a gameplay option so that players couldn't rope other players? So the rope would just go through them. Would be awesome, I accidentally rope other players all the time and it totally ruins my movement :P

that point is like "moding" a LX feature...

That is most likely just an ego talking about how he can rope other players, his aim's just that good =DDD

Improvement as in:
- better aiming (smooth, a bit like in worms)
- projectiles would behave in the same way for all players
- implementation of strafe as an integral part of the game so that no one can turn it off

The initial aim was to improve the quality of the game. Networking improved, app crashes less and converted to OpenGL for a better framerate.
I have done some improvements to the HUD, but in general i've left the gameplay as-is for the moment.

Can you explain the strafe implementation?

I would rather leave strafe completely out as it doesn't belong to LX or Liero. But this is just my personal opinion and nowadays most people may actually disagree with me. :P


JasonB: Strafe was introduced in OLX-version-something and it allows you to move backwards by holding the strafe key. It can be disabled in server settings.

Again, there's no such thing as STRAFING in a 2d game. It's called back-pedalling, and it's stupid. You just shoot while moving backwards.
