Hello,

I noticed that this was the first point in the FAQ, but I find it odd that I'm experiencing this error when I'm attempting to run OpenLieroX directly from the folder that I unzipped it in. I have changed or moved nothing, just extracted and tried (and failed) to run the program.

Is there a parameter I have to set /a dll or something I might be missing? I'm on WinXP.

Which package did you download? The RC3 from OpenLieroX.net site? It worked for me last time I tried. What is the exact error message?

I'd say just re-unzip it, try it again and if it stills gives you error message - please post it exact as it says to here we'll help you to get it working.

Especially check that the data/ subdirectory is properly unpacked.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I played the original liero yeaars ago (we snuck it onto the computers at my elementary school ~10 years ago, wow time flies) and discovered someone at my university who also played, so obviously we immediately started trying to play it over LAN

I've tried unzipping the folder multiple times (the rc3 from the homepage) and get "Could not load the fonts" in a dialog box each time I try to run the app. I read in the FAQ that this could be a result of improper shortcut routing, but I haven't moved anything? Which file specifically does the program read the fonts from?

Have you cancelled any Windows updates? My OLX rc3 didn't work because I hadn't updated. After I did it worked fine. (I have my doubts of this working, but it's worth the shot? isn't it?)

Try that aswell, even though it might have some flaws that aren't in rc3. It might work for you.

Can you say the full name of the directory where you extracted it?

Also, can you post a list of all files/subdirectories in that directory?

I don't have the computer that I was using before, but it was something along the lines of My Documents/Downloads/liero, nothing extravagant!

On my current computer though, the rc1 link I was given works, and now I'm trying to get used to the ninja rope being on a single button as opposed to pressed jump+change at the same time. Depending on my school's firewall, you're probably going to get a lot of procrastinating engineers playing online soon :p

You can turn on the double key rope in options, it's called "Oldschool rope throw" or something like that.

As far as I remember, some serious bugs were fixed in rc3 which are there in rc1/rc2 (don't remember anymore). So if you are on a new computer, you should try rc3 again.

If you extracted it in My Documents somewhere, that might be an issue if your username contains non-ASCII symbols (I had such a bug report a while back). Maybe try to extract it to your Program Files directory or just to C:\.
