How to recognize hacks?

Well, today I was playing some network game and in a server I found a person that did some strange things:

- changed the velocity of his worm to greater than the others in hide and seek game

- shot through walls in a riffles game

I saw only that "hacks".

Well, he hosted the games...

Questions:
1) I know that who host can change a lot of things in game. Is there any wat to see detailed settings for a game I'm playing when I'm a common player? For example loading time, gravity, velocity, velocity of each worm...

2) Does anyone know about hacking a game when you are not the one that hosts? Or only who hosts can do that? And do you know how to recognize hacks in a non-empiric way?

They are host only. Even people authorised cannot use those. Of course they are alot of fun to mess around with, but to use in your own selfish desires to win, it's pure evil.

About the first question, you can see the overall settings (velocity and damagefactor, shieldfactor etc.) when you press MORE >> button. But in game you can't see them.
The best player isn't the one with most kills every game, the best player is the one that has most fun playing.

You might see that via console commands. Check getWormSpeed* or so.

He hacks if he wins ( extra hack points if he is Karma or former member of FoH or M )

Rifles are made to go thru small walls... It's part of the set. ;)
If it's far away from the wall when shot and it goes thru it's most likely a "glitch" / "bug".

And you know this is an opensource game, so in general anybody could change speedfactors or force change max health etc for "hacking"/"cheating".

It was not so small...

And anyways wallshots can't be hacked since you see what your client tells you to see then it's clientsided (= yours olx is hacked and you see wallshots go impossibly thru whole map BOM!)
