Btw., for anybody: Please help us when you find some crash or other problem. We are all kind of busy with other stuff and it is unlikely that I will have much time in the next 6 month to work on OLX.

Anybody with at least some C++ experience (or any programming experience at all) can easily help here. It is not that hard to get into the source code. It just takes time. Everybody can do that. Checkout the code from Git (0.59 branch) and just work on it. If you get something fixed/done, just say so, it's trivial then via Git for us to include your changes.

Still having this problem.

The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application log for more details.

Have you tried to play a custom game? Does it still work for LX mods + LX levels? Does it work with normal Death Match? Does it work for the Gusanos mod?

Btw., I have noticed in your log, sound doesn't work for you. What Windows version do you have? Does it work for others here?

Feliz, I wonder a bit about your gfx issues. On all systems I have tried so far, it works just fine (that is MacOSX 10.5, Gentoo Linux 32bit, Debian 4.0 Linux 32bit, Ubuntu 8.0 Linux 64bit, Windows XP Prof). Can you post the log?

On vista it didnt work, It restarted itself when I tried to do a local game and it said they were sorry for the problem, afterwards, I tried playing on the internet wich also fails, I could go into a server, the game starts, but I cant move, I checked the controls and they were fine but still couldnt move.

I think I already know what was wrong, I downloaded all files and put them in my OpenLieroX 0.58 map, Now I have downloaded the beta 1 of 0.59 and it works, only by the tuturial levels I went to lvl 3 and I cant do any damage with I think its the Gusanos mod.
and will there be any more map with cool features like the spikes and bounce platforms, it would make the gameplay so much cooler :D:D:D

There is more:
The grapics of the gusanos mod are awesome but I miss the aiming thingie and I can aim all the way downwards, I dont know if this is already fixed in the beta 2 but fix it!
and I cant go to lvl 4 :(
another thing is that the weapons in Gusanos mod (Doom) not always working well.
and merge the hp bar and the ammo bar with the gusanos because I dont like the gusanos bar

(yes I keep editing until I finished trying out :P

There are hundreds of Gusanos maps with dynamic objects like that. A few of my favorites are "base", "hangar" and "mars." Those three have all been included with OLX 0.59. The maps from the Darkarts mod are also great. Many other Gusanos maps are up for download at GusanosFiles They'll probably be uploaded to the filebase eventually, but GusanosFiles is the best place to get them for now:
-[Map List page] Has info about which maps have cool dynamic objects like spikes, etc.
-[Maps page] Has graphic previews of all maps

Also, there are only 4 Gusanos mods in OLX right now. You can find 65 Gusanos mods here.


Anyways, errors:
I reinstalled OLX and I'm still getting the weird lightmap distortions and no sound.
Here's a new error. I was changing my controls when everything locked up. Then the game just disappeared (crashed) and this popped up:

When I ran OLX again the resolution was set to 640X480. It had been fullscreen before. I don't think I pressed anything to change it.

I'll post that log soon.

thanks feliz, now lets hope this new openlierox will progress quickly so the gusanos maps will be played more often online!
I also noticed that the map Fallout 2 of gusanos dont allow you to dig yourself out of the left top corner

I had to go check, I don't normally play with sound.

OLX Beta rc1 and beta 2 of .59 sound doesn't work for me at all.

In any beta other wise, from .58 and down to .56 sound works just fine.

A new release: 0.59 beta3

- Fix: You should be able to join and play on any <=0.58 server. (Very stupid and annoying bug.)
- Fixed some crashes.
- Hopefully made sound cache better (not loading sounds multiple times and also clean up cache if too much memory used).
- Fixed problem of game allowed level state disappearing when starting 0.58.
- Fixed problem of overwriting game config in some cases when playing single player.

I think this is the first really useable version. Earlier versions had the problems that you couldn't play on old servers - which was kind of silly. Now, with this and most of the common crashes/issues fixed, it is ready for normal use. I for myself don't use 0.58 at all anymore. I hope to see some more 0.59 servers online in the upcoming time. :)

Sadly, it seems some people have issues I cannot reproduce myself.

@Asrack: I added a new console function getWormHealth. Can you check the worm health after firing some weapons against the bot?

@Feliz: Maybe your problem is somehow related to the MMX/MMX+/SSE code. I added 3 new options where you can disable this. Look in the config file under [Video] and set UseMMX, UseMMXExt and UseSSE to false. Ah, and I still need your log output (one time before you set this and one time after; in both cases with 0.59 beta3).

I went into the game to check it out and when I got to about the second mission cause I had to start over, the FPS dropped a shit load. It's bouncing between 1-90.

I normally have 84 FPS. I'm running Windows XP, SP2.

Sounds still not working for me. O.o

The second error is a problem on our site, not your fault.

Have you downloaded the patch or the full archive? Have you copied it over to an existing OLX dir or to a new one?

Try downloading the full archive and leave it in a seperate directory.
