16-Bit Warfare mod for LieroX (OpenLieroX recode coming)

I got here a download for 16Bit warfare. I have been making this mod for about a year and painstakingly made the effort to balance the weapons best i can. I guarantee you'll get a kick out of these. email info in the rar for any questions.

Weapon descriptions

Babomb (Mario)= Timed Explosive/Contact explosive  Thrown as a grenade when he lands he chooses who he

chases and after a few seconds BOOOM. Alternatively will explode on impact but dangerous to do for you may

hit yourself. high Damage

BladeRang (Castlevania)=  projectile goes out for a short distance and comes back to the player dealing no

damage to the thrower. LoMid damage

Boulder Knight (Castlevania) Projectile is thrown short distance and damages on impact, the trick to using

this is throwing it with momentum. High Damage

Breath of darkness (Lufia)= When used this weapon summons the darkone form the abyss to leech the life of

all in his radius. Variable damage depending on time in aura.

Cataclysm (Golden Axe)= The red fighters magic, summons a meteor shower. Little to no recharge this weapon

has potential to damage everyone..Tip don't throw it too close to the right side wall (Projectiles won't

come)

Contra worm (Contra)= defensive evade type weapon, when you shoot it make sure your facing where you want to

evade to and it will give you a slight boost in that direction. Spawns a contra worm that puts out a

damaging gas cloud that has potential to trap your enemy.

Cyber Napalm (cybernator)= a cross between a flamethrower and fireball launcher this weapon recharges fast

and deals medium damage.

Deadly Daggers (Shinobi)= fast throwing LoMedium damaging daggers that bounce of surfaces.

Demon energy bombs (Altered beast)= throws four beasts that run and pounce towards their target and upon

impact or timer throw out damaging energy bombs that float up. beasts do no damage but the balls do medium

(If LMS still worked i would change their recharge and shoot time to much slower but i can't sry)

Doggie Devestator (Earthwork Jim)= This drops a funnel that launches puppies into the air dealing damage to

all in the path.

Fire Hose (Beavis and Butthead)= Pee on your foes with giddy delight

Ink Ling (Comix Zone)= Spawns an enemy that jumps up and down and shoots firetrails to both left and right

Lemmy the smasher= Lemmy shotgun that spawns randomly jumping lemmings that do good damage when hit with.

Lightning Daggers (Shinobi)- More damaging but slightly slower version of the deadly daggers, the split into

two

Long range Missile (Mechwarrior) shoots fast shooting, fast recharging missiles that do LoMid damage

Mega Health (MegaMan)= big health recharge that spawns in a random spot near the user (More fun to see two

people dashing for it)

Ninja's Last stand (Shinobi)= Summon shinobi joe with this compact mine version of him. Daggers shoot in and

arc around him

Proton cannon (Forgot sry)= charged projectile that bounces of surfaces till it's hit something or died

Revolution (RevolutionX)= Sniper esque weapon that has a sight. Difficult to use but deals good damage

Ring of retribution (Castlevania)= My personal favorite. This mine traps whoever enters and rains down un-

nice things on the unfortunate. You may be able to escape it if you keep running when triggered.

Salvos (Metal Slug)= Wonky rockets they wave around then slowly descend to the ground. They do the most

damage farther away form where you shot them and come out in three's

Samus' ballBomb (Metroid)= Launches samus' ball form and leaves a trail of her bombs to explode and spray

small radius of damage around them

Sorcerer's fury (Mortal Kombat)= ShangTsung's fiery skull attack, shoots three in close succession and the

embers from the skulls burn through dirt.

Spread Gun (Contra)= contra's spread gun...shoots bullets that spread

Sword of Lufia (Lufia)= Melee weapon with short distance attack but deals good damage, You see anyone with

this don't get in close.

The Big Payoff (Ren and Stimpy)= this shoots a safe out that deals heavy damage but doesn't go very far.

Aslo the projectile slows and suddenly drops straight down to land on head..The money is health

Thwomp (Mario)= Shoot a machomp on a chain from mario rpg

Vampire Splitter (Castlevania)= Throws a large axe that goes through sufaces (Like castlevania) when the

enemy is hit it makes a little red heart fly out that can be used to gain back half the health taken from

the hit.

Wrath of Samus (Metroid)= Mine projectile that when stepped on causes samus to take her final stand.

Xbuster (MegaMan) This buster moves fast and deals good damage.

Yep, i got to hand it to you, i wasn't bored when i tried this out, so it receives my blessing and to all others reading this, the download is worth it, playing this unlimited is as much fun as Wh40 unlimited or something like that.

It's nice i guess

I kind of made this mod in response to alot of the weapons in WH are so overbalanced or don't even work. In my mod the only ones that will be an issue is if 5 ppl have the cataclysm the screen will get crazy. LMS stopped working for me so i can't fix anything but it's at the point i think all that's left are minor edits.

Tested it with bots, very nice GFX, tho I don't like mines like Last Ninja Stand or Wrath of Samus - they should be not just a dot on the ground, but something more noticeable so you can avoid them IMO.

Some more positive comments and we may consider including this mod in next OLX release.

Uhm about the mod: I think some weapons is pretty dam good made, and others horrible. But an limted version of this would be awsome i belive

After testing we chose these weapons to be avaible:
Babomb: It's quite bad, kills well if you get lucky.
Boulder Knight: Hard to hit, low damage, seems to be a bit bugged.
Cyper Napalm: Not too powerful, good range. A nice flamer to have.
Fire Hose: Low damage, but it's funny and arguably useful.
Lemmy The Smasher: Powerful, long loadingtime. Easy hits.
Lightning Daggers: Medium power, much like a slower version of machinegun. Can also be used for sniping.
Proton Cannon: Bounces, but disappears fast enough to not be spammy. Good damage.
Revolution: Medium loadingtime, a sniper with a sight and medium damage.
Salvos: Good damage, easy to hit.
Samus' Ball Bomb: A Hellrider of this mod, tho more powerful and therefore useful. Also lives a trail which damages too, so it's a bit spammy.
Sorcerer's Fury: A Winchester-like weapon, which seems to be bugged. Too low damage.
Thwomp: A Winchester-like weapon leaving a splash where it hits.
Xbuster: Hard to hit, medium damage.

We also experienced bugging like stuff disappearing (Thwomp tail).
Couldn't think of this being played much. Too bad you can't finnish it, has potential.

Thats a very good list off the best weapon.  even though the samus ballbomb as you said was spammy, could been left out.

I appreciate eveyones critique and the first thing i have to say is this was created for lierox 0.62b and though openlieroX claims all the mods are backwards compatible i have had a few of the issues you guys have mentioned but only in openlierox. Me, my brother and a friend have been playing nothing but this mod for a year and have not experienced any of the issues mentioned so to say it's the mod is odd considering it has been heavily scrutinized.
Now for specifics..
Samus ball bomb seems spammy but the radius in which the particles emit is low and the spread is great enoguh that if you hit the main particle you will receive no more damage...thus stopping enemy in their place or making them ninja out. i don't understand hellrider of this mod either.
Boulder knight does about half hlth in damage and is more suited for running and throwing, btw when you say bugged what does that mean plz be descriptive.
fire hose is just funny lol
Sorcerer's fury don't understand bugged..how. Low damage but shoots three volleys and fast reload
dracula's blade i am assuming you mean the bladerang...it's logical that a weapon that goes thru all surfaces would do weak damage otherwise it's a rediculous pain in the ass and everyone would gripe that fact instead. btw wtf is WUD?
I agree with the mines as far as them being hard to miss but they are also somewhat hard to get hit by with exception of the ring of retribution. if you run past samus' mine or shinobi joe you can dodge the damage pretty good...plus the anim for the mine blinks a redlight every 2 seconds i believe.

If your experienceing any issues with the mod like i said it has been overly tested in 0.62B and i have never seen any of these issues sry guys. BTW if some sprites don't show it's something i have always had issues with no matter what mod in openlieroX especially when there are a lot of particles on the screen, open has some sort of pixel cap and it stops rendering them if there's too much.

Just figured out the issue.
When there is too much particles on the screen (Blood, Weapons particles)
The game stopes rendering until those are removed now unfortunately 0.62b works differently than openlierox in the the sense that when particles hit the very edge of the map in 0.62b it goes away but in open the particles for some reason don't keep going or don't destroy. When you use the cataclysm weapon the fireballs never leave the screen and after about three the engine has too many particles on screen at once and stops rendering particles...there's no fix for this unless i was able to go in and make those particles destroy themselves after idk three seconds. LMS no longer works so i can't fix that i would suggest either using 0.62b or banning the catatclysm and any other weapon (Though off hand can't think of any) that in openZ the particles don't go away on their own. sorry guys i made it for LieroX0.62b

Last thought boulder knight actually moves further in open than in 0.62B though slow still very usable as a weapon because it takes three hits to knock players hlth to zero. The gravity is all wrong in OpenlieroX with this mod again sry not my fault it was meant for 0.62b and is perfect there

The lack of those beautiful RPGs and A Link to the Past from SNES would drop this mod's potential a lot in my eyes. But I'm aware of that you thought that, because there's a Zelda mod, there's no need to add anything from ALttP in this, no?

Also, some names look awkwardly, and should be named something else (Samus' Ball Bomb -> Morph Ball Bomb; Boulder Knight -> Rock Armor; etc.)


Though, idea is good. I'll get back to this eventually.

The mod works well in OLX pre-beta 9, the projectiles are removed correctly at the border. Only one problem - the catalyst weapon does not work when infinite map is activated (the projectiles just fly infinitely through the level). A timer would be fine.

Also the catalyst weapon is able to spawn about 1600 projectiles when not stopped and about 500 with a finite map. This is a lot, consider lowering the number of trail projectiles that are used only for an eye-candy.

LMS works as it used to work, it hasn't been touched for years.

Also, in pre-beta 9 you can just put all your source files (Main.txt + all weapon/projectile files) in the mod folder instead of script.lgs and OLX will load the mod directly from these files.

Thnx for looking into that duracell. LMS i know hasn't changed but unfortunately my O.S. has. Vista is not allowing the program to work in any compatability mode nor with any extra command line options i could find. It won't allow me to open projects or save them, so modifying these things is currently impossible. Beta 9 are you privy to prerelease betas becuase i have 8. In 9 is the air friction(I said gravity but i know now it's not that) issue i mentioned earlier in this thread fixed in relation to setting from LierX.  The particles move to freely in openlierox compared to 0.62B so that's another thing that would need adjusting. Someone plz fix the LMS or make a new one :) I know there's some smart guys (Or women) out there.
As far as naming, for copyright sakes i tried to not use to obvious names. I realize there are a few in there but i was really trying to minimize any...if any issues, Don't know details of the legalities with this type of mod.

Hey i got lufia in there for RPG :) your right i stayed away from the Zelda one for that very same reason. I also wanted to put some less common games in there that were just as good as the more accepted games of the time. I mean the lufia sword flashes how much damage above the player when you hit them lol

I unfortunately need lms to do the changes because i can't code the weapons as easy...i'm more art than code. If you were to want to modify the wep. code i would be more than happy sharing credit for the mod with you i just don't want to give everyone entire wep code because then there will be ten identical mods popping up ya know.
