But can you make it again as long as it was before? :)

All right, now it has that half a second more length. Though I don't really see what difference it makes as pretty much all you can hear in the last 0,5 seconds is just a slight echo of the thunder sound. But here you go! 8)

If you ever need any other such sounds I would gladly help you out. ;)

Thanks. :)

Perhaps some more sounds (whereby not that important for now):
* when you caught the flag, perhaps kind of a click (or clack) sound or so
* when somebody returned the flag to its base, also some small sound (perhaps same as above?)

There are perhaps more things/events which could get an event but not sure on that. I would not overdo it, I can imagine it would become annoying if every single event has some kind of sound (or even always different sound). E.g. perhaps it's really best for the two examples above to be the same sound.

(Btw., you don't have to use zshare, you can also upload the files here at LXA, that would be a bit easier for both of us.)

Sorry for off-topic: it would be also nice to have some sounds for You are visible to the seekers/You are hidden again in Hide and Seek.

I can do that. But before I do those messages, it would be cool to know if there are more messages you need once we're at it. And which of the messages I already made are clear enough/not clear enough, and if the voice is a little too much like darth vader etc...

EDIT: Fixed Sak's permissions. He can post attachements in this board now.

Well I tried to make some kind of a clicking sound while keeping it somewhat similar in style to the thunder one, but ended up with some kind of a chime and even added a bass sound to it :D. So maybe this isn't quite suitable for the purpose but who knows, use it for something else if you want to :P.

And apparently I can't attach OGG-files here so unless you have a better solution I will upload it to zshare shortly. :-\

We are not sure yet if we keep the OGG format. We would like to as it is the best format IMO for such sounds (gives good compression and still good quality), thus we have some problems with it right now (and not sure if they are easy to fix). Perhaps just upload WAV files atm. (but please in good quality). Perhaps I can fix the 24PCM error.

Btw., I think the click sound in the menu is already close to what I imagine for this. Whereby not perfect, I imagine more somethink like a clack (similar to when you unsafe a weapon, that is a similar sound).

But still upload also the sound you made there, perhaps we can use it for something different. :)

@ Gaston: Can you give him also permissions to upload OGG files?

I also came to think of the menu click as it should indeed be something very simple. The sound I have now came out too long and big sounding, it will certainly get annoying if used for that. I think I'll keep perfecting this one and trying to make a new sound/sounds, and then I'll upload a bunch of different sounds when I feel I have enough. Then you will get to choose which ones you'll use and for what, and which ones you'll discard completely =). I don't wish to make them rushed as I got the picture that there is no urgent need for these new sounds.

No, for the flag-catch (or return-to-base) sound there is no urgent need, I think it's not that important.

@ Griffin: Perhaps some of the messages are still nice and usefull though. Some work is still needed there though (e.g. we need also an option for enabling/disabling such because perhaps some people will not like them) and my time is a bit limited in the next days.

Here some first impressions:
"Blue Flag Returned" was a bit unclear spoken. And "Enemy Has Your Flag" could still be faster but is clear enough. "Green Team Scores" is already pretty nice. "Green Flag Returned" is again a bit unclear.

Just recheck them also yourself. Imagine also that you will listen to that sounds pretty often, so it would be better if they are short and fast. And if they are too unclear then, it was probably too unclear already before.

ogg files should be allowed now.

And just to check. You want that darth-vader-ish voice I made? I could make the tone different if you want it to be. And I'll see what I can do about the rest of the audio in a few days.

Yeah, voice is fine. Most of the messages could still be faster (but with same voice). Or how about the others here? I don't want to be the only one who makes this descission. :)

Ok :) I'll support you in this - before the message ends I can take another frag (well, I'm magnifying that a bit) so if it could be faster it would be nice. However, I think you are making the Vader voice by slowing down the sound, aren't you? If so, it might be really troublesome to make it faster...

There are also ways of making the voice lower without changing the speed. And also the other way, changing the speed without changing the voice. Every better sound editing tool should have many ways to do this.

I also think they could be a little faster, whereas the voice itself is good. Speeding them up slightly without altering the pitch shouldn't be too problematic with any decent audio editor. I myself could try it, but of course it would give the best result to record them dry, adjust the speed if needed and then apply the effects you would like.

One thing that bothers myself a little that hasn't been pointed out yet, is that you should try to keep the volume and tone so that you can speak the messages clearly till the end. Right now some of them sound a bit like as if you were running out of breath towards the end :D.

Actually not. I'm just changing the pitch withouth changing the speed. I could speed the whole thing up artificially, and it sounds alright. But since there are a few messages that sounds unclear, I'll try to fix them, and re-record messages to make them faster withouth having to speed it up artificially. I use Sony Sound Forge, which is an awesome tool, and has about everything that's needed to edit sounds to my catering.

And you're right Sak. Some of them sounds a bit weird compared to eachother. I think it's best to re-record most (if not all) from the base, and then have them sound more or less with the same clarity etc, and then edit them.

Here's a new version of "Enemy Has Your Flag". It's faster than the previous ones, but I fear te word "enemy" is a bit too unclear, so I need your opinon on this...

I think it's clear as glass.. but i still think it's waay too slow...

Imo all sound samples should be max 2 seconds long, and even shorter than that if possible, cause else there will be sounds that are stacking on top of each other like Blue flag returned. Enemy has your flag. Mmmonster kill..

BTW, I've not forgot this. But the last month I've been quite buisy, and I have exams and I amreading for them for the next 2 and a half weeks. After that I'll hopefully be able to get better sounding team deathmatch sounds.

That is probably before Beta9 but I am not sure if they will make it to the Beta9 release. We will see... The problem is that we are all a bit busy right now...
