I like the last one.
I haven't got around to listening to any of them completely yet though so I might just not have found the good parts in the others.

Thanks Griff! Good you liked the last one, and you probably won't miss much even if you don't listen to the others. =)

BTW: is there any way to make it so that when you click the image at the top of the first post, it will lead you to the Mikseri-page?

Thanks for your comments everyone! Now I must say for my defence that Bifrost is indeed the only 'real' piece among them so far, and even that suffers from the fact that I am not a professional sound technician or audio engineer or whatsoever, but a mere amateur guitarist. If you cannot enjoy the music because of the sloppy playing or the ear-splittlingly poor overall sound, I understand you, but please try to atleast think about the compositional values (if any) of the piece(s). If you won't believe there are any real compositions behind these walls of noise, I can later post them in MIDI format also :P

If you have, however, grown some kind of a liking even for the Bifrost-piece, I must let you know that I am constantly working on new material. Right now I have around 3-4 songs in the recording stage, and I'm hoping to finish at least one of them within the next week.  8)

I only listened to Bifrost and ended up liking it. I does somehow remind me of Ishiwatari Daisukes Guilty Gear soundtrack(s).

The only thing that bothers me are the drums, or the cymbals as I didn't really hear the rest of the set. I actually wished that I could turn of them so they wouldn't get in the way of the guitar. Well, I need to listen to it with proper speakers, which I get access to tomorrow night.

I Love the guitar, but do something about the drums.

Awesome, thank you! Well the thing with the drums is, I make the drum tracks using a free drummachine-thingy called Hydrogen, and I make a couple of patterns into wav-files which I then lay around the actual project in Reaper. Now because it would be too difficult to make all parts of the set into separate tracks, I have to mix it as a whole already in Hydrogen. Then when I add some effects in Reaper (because there aren't any good available in Hydrogen) the cymbals tend to cut through better than the rest. There might be some easy way around this, but so far that's the best I can offer. One reason might also be that the bass is getting in the way of the kick drum, as the overall mix is rather muddy =/

Good to hear you liked the guitar there though, and also nice that it reminds you of Ishiwatari. I also like the Guilty Gear soundtracks and I guess I was subconsciously inspired by them =)

New material, look here !

The piece is called Electrify, and it is a rather laid-back, almost jazzy track that I had almost forgotten about. I came across it today and put a couple more solos in it, and I think it ended up being a rather nice little piece. This is also my first recorded use of the wah-wah =) Again it's played sloppily but atleast the overall mix should be somewhat clearer than in Bifrost. Comments would be appreciated  8)

As I got into recording the Electrify-piece today, I decided to finish in the same session another one of my works in progress, to which a direct link lies here.

This one I consider my 'magnum opus' so far. I especially like(d) playing the solo around 2 minutes into the piece. The title Islannin Kaasuja means something like 'gases of Iceland', but it has very little to do with such things. In fact, it is actually a love song, and the title is an anagram for the object of this love. Enjoy, and please let me know what you think of it =)

EDIT: added direct links to individual pieces along with some more 'in-depth' descriptions in the first post.

Electrify didn't really fit my taste. I find the mixing to be slightly better than Bifrost's and the solos are nice, though I'd like the guitar to be a bit more dominant.

I also listened to Bifrost through my proper speakers/equalizers+everything else today and was actually able to tell the different instruments apart. It does sound quite nice and the drums are nowhere as bad as they were yesterday(ups-the day before yesterday). Nice job!

The Kaasupiisi (yeye) is epic.

Btw, what range equipment did you use to record them? I noticed that they are listed on the site but I'm too lazy to check them out tonight. And what kind of guitar do you have?

First of all I must thank you for your interest in my stuff, I really appreciate it =). Then some little info about the gear:

My main guitar is a cheap Squier Strat, to which I have installed DiMarzio pickups (Virtual Vintage Solo in the bridge, and Solo Pro in the neck, it has no middle pickup anymore). Also the pickguard has been changed to a selfmade aluminium one, the tone controls are disconnected and the fretboard has been slightly scalloped. I also have a completely selfmade Stratocaster-style guitar which I haven't gotten to use too much yet because it still needs some slight adjustments.

The guitar signal is basically run through the Line6 TonePort UX1 -interface (and also Crybaby-wah when needed) and the accompanied GearBox -modeling software, and recorded with Reaper. The rest is made solely on the computer: drums in Hydrogen like I mentioned before, bass using some random bass-sample and lead-synths, strings, choirs and whatsoever using various freeware VST instruments and effects.

The most expensive piece of gear I have is the AXON guitar-to-MIDI-controller, which I have actually used very little so far (if I remember correctly I've only used it on Hitler's Pony Dungeon), but I'm planning to use it more in the future, when I get to know it better, to make some synth-parts less 'computerized'-sounding.

The primitive mixing is done in Reaper also, and for reference I use cheap Edirol MA-15D monitors.

Well Cizin, I don't think melody is anything special, and his guitar, playing style and sound (partially because of the poor recording) don't really please me either. Maybe music like that just isn't meant to be played on a guitar =)

I'm more into this kind of playing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nl20j9wY5U

Just happened to find that on Youtube and I liked it a lot, I don't know what kind of a band that is exactly and who the people playing in it are, but that is quite accurately the kind of music I would like to make when I progress (a lot), and obviously I would also need a bass player and a drummer to do their solos =)

that stuff sounds like random jibberish to me, it might be for more skilled people, i don't know, or care, but  no way it sounds as good as the dude who played voodoo people.
And it's a video on youtube, why'd you even bother saying anything about the quality, it rocks.

Tyty :P There are actually not too many people with this surname. As far as I know it was translated into Finnish from the Russian name Wasiljeff in the 1920s =)

Hello again, here's a song I just recorded to celebrate Christmas. This time there's no crappy synth sounds, just straightforward guitar-based rock. In place of the lead guitar lines I would have preferred vocals though, but I don't have a singer available :-\. And the solos are improvized=crap as usual. Enjoy anyway:

Hey Ciz, why are you coming into my music thread after 5 months of silence, only to post those pictures? I actually thought and was hoping that you would've commented the music somehow. :P

Well I might as well let you know (=lie to you) that I am working on some pieces, and I just might finish a couple of them during the summer. In fact, I spent an hour with a metronome yesterday, trying to nail one solo, but I just couldn't do it. I don't remember when I last touched a metronome so this could indicate I'm actually getting somewhere with the recording(s). 8)

Oh and I have a new guitar also! It is much more enjoyable to play than my other two. It also sounds a lot better but because of the poor recording quality you probably won't hear any difference in the finished pieces. Picture here:

EDIT: Hah I knew of that Wangcaster, could be an interesting one to have actually ;D. And what do you think I need a wife for when I've got the beauty depicted above? =)
