What kind of music is it? Hip Hop? techno? Heavy ? I might download it :)

Post by: TeddyKGB on May 03, 2007, 09:06:53 pm
You dont download it, just visit the page and its 4 playable songs.
Only Myspacemembers can download it...

You can call it garage pop, even if you dont like that genre visit it anyway.
Dont take more than 5 secs before the first song is playing...

This is really good music, I dont really listen too this kind of music but this is great!

Pop garage often works for others than listen to techno and other music  lite punk and other stuff...

Takes no time before the music starts so just look at it...

If you call it skatepunk my heart is getting ripped -.-

Its more like the kooks but doesnt sound to bad you just need to make the singing a little louder asits getting 'muzzled' with the background.

Not my favorite music :S as valk said, you need to tune up the singing as the background is to loud compared to that.

Its not anything like the kooks...
If you listen too like Test Icicles, RAT:ATT:AGG the blood brothers and like damn arms you will see its more like them.
The kooks is way more soft...
And about the singing, if you listen too this kind of music (which you obviously dont) you will know that the volume is pretty normal together with the rest of the music, we tried once to have it louder but then the voice was heard above the music and thats not what we are going for here. We see the song as a instrument and like any other instrument it should be heard in the same lvl as the other instruments that is played or maybe just a little bit louder....
Anyway your comparation was waay better than Rukis  :P
And thank your for taking your time to listen too it.

And btw, after one day an xsigned band wanted us too play with them in Germany and 2 days after that we got us self a gig in England(but the date is not set). So I must say that we are doing quite well :)

It's punk.. ish.. I wouldn't say skate, that's what got branded 'punk' because it was all over the Tony Hawks Skateboard games for Playstation.. Blink 182, Sum 41 etc - an open V chord here [powerchord], another there, oh some more over there. Perhaps a barre if you're lucky.

It's punk in the traditional sense that it's very unrefined and raw, just some guys blasting out what feels good :P It has the desired effect, you can tell you guys play it to play it rather than try make it sound perfect, it's good :) Reminds me a bit of Franz Ferdinand, chordal work is just played in quavers or semis, (eigths and sixteenths depending on what you call them) with a lot of single line runs and what not..

Not my sort of music, I prefer the more complex guitar music (poking around QotSA, [earlier] RHCP and LZ, or check out Andy Mckee on Youtube - be amazed) but that doesn't mean I don't think you've got a good thing going. Good for you, I hope it goes somewhere for you :)

Oh and: change your myspace design, red text on black background makes baby elephants cry - and my eyes bleed.

Title: Re: Racecar Red
Post by: Adam on June 13, 2007, 06:52:55 pm
Those songs kinda remind me of all the Brit-pop-rock songs going on on MTV2, especially with the vocal. I like the fact that the vocal is on same level as other instruments - your comparison of vocal as an instrument is so true. Generally I liked the impression of the songs, even though I dont listen to such music (only metal and harder rock). Not that original to my ears, but hey, its hard to be original in our times, so a big plus anyway.

Now the most important question: which part of the band are you, TeddyKGB?

Title: Re: Racecar Red
Post by: TeddyKGB on June 14, 2007, 11:11:32 am
Nice to hear that you liked it.

I play bass in the band and I do vocals too. Often choir.
You can hear me sing in all of the songs.

Cheers

It doesen't seem to be so many of you that care but i write this anyway

It's been a good week for my band. Artrocker Magazin in England emailed us and told us that they like us.
They played us on the radio in England and now they want us too come and play on Artrocker club at Buffalo Bar in London. This will happen after april i think. The band Load.Click.Shoot will also arrange a gig with us in London when  we'll make our trip to there.

Also for thoose in sweden or thoose who can read Swedish: We are now in Groove Magazin which is the biggest musicmagazin in sweden. We did send them our demo and they liked us so thoose who subscribe on the magazin will get a mixed-cd with 10 topical artist, one of them is us.  You can also get just the magazin for free in different stores all over the country
Groove wrote kinda little about us.  Mostly about our song. But anyway: A big step forward for my band this week.

Also We recorded 3 brand new songs yesterday, we're not completely done with them but they'll probably come up on our myspacepage sometime soon wich is www.myspace.com/racecarred (http://www.myspace.com/racecarred) as you probably already know :)

Thats it for now, I will update this if anything new will come up for thoose who cares :)

Cheers

Not really to that type of music but good luck anyways. ;)

You fellas are fantastic. I really like the raw vintage sound- it blends perfectly with the old school organ thing. If you get up with a good producer, he/she could definitely refine and mix everything so it sounds finished without taking out the 'rawness'. ****ing ace keys... they add so much to your songs. Reminds me of some Ocean's 11 & 12 soundtracks.

I'm curious, what do you do in this band? Which instrument, or is that you singing?

I want to congratulate you on getting somewhere with this. It's pretty awesome that you guys are getting gigs booked in foreign countries. It's also really nice to listen to how much you guys have progressed, musically. I just read a post I put in when you first posted this thread.. listening now, I hear most songs currently on the Myspace have really branched out, your songwriting has come on a lot.

Some of them I think are too short.. some of the songs just beg for a fat middle section to drag the songs into really climatic endings.. But maybe I've been listening to too much Radiohead lately :D

Really good stuff. I'd put this stuff in my music library. :)

I have a taste for a bit of everything really. Off the top of my head there's a few to stand out though. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Foo Fighters, Sublime, Cold Play, Muse, Jimi Hendrix, The Strokes, The Faint, Radiohead, Blink 182, The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, etc. etc. etc...

And that's probably a nice chunk of the rock portion of my 60GB library =P

Really nice stuff you got on there, my favorite is The Killer. Good job putting your stuff on Myspace, one of the best sites for music IMO. Whenever I am looking for a band someone tells me about or just new music, I go to Myspace. One question, are Simon, Joel, and Anton all brothers?

I play the bassguitar and sing, not that much thou, choir mostly.

Hehe ye we hear that alot. The most imoporant rule we have while making a song is that it can't be longer than 3 minutes :)
Maybe wonder why?
We often see alot of new bands making their song longer just by putting outfilling crap in it, this is nothing we want.
Just to make them aggressive, intensive and effective.
Although I know we would be able to do them longer without making the songs worse but we want to stick to our motto.

@spectro
You got a good taste of music i think, I've been a big fan of RHCP since I was a kid. Flea on bassguitar have been my idol and one of the reasons I startat playing bass. Saw them live in Stockholm in December 2006, it was awsome.
The strokes and Franz Ferdinand is something I listen to sometimes, mostly the strokes.

Have you ever heard Forward Russia?  I think you might like them :)
I'm listening mostly on bands like Test Icicles, Forward Russia, Help she can't swim, My sister the cop and other similar bands.

Thank you. Yeah we can thank myspace alot, without the site we wouldn't have come as far as we have by now.
Ye Simon Anton and Joel are all borthers :)

You know, in the beginning there was only three in the band, later on we understood that the songs would be better with 2 guitars so we let Simons little brother join in on drums. This guy is the best drummer I know and he's just 15 so he's got alot potential.
And not so long ago we took in Joel on synth. which also made the songs better and more eccentric.

Thanks and Cheers

very nice work.. but i have some problems with the drummer... he is quite rookie? the guitars and voice are fine but i don't like the drums, everything is too usual :/
i don't usually listen to this kind of music, but that's fine job!
keep it on,and don't think noone cares :P

Title: Re: Racecar Red
Post by: TeddyKGB on June 09, 2008, 12:58:21 am
Thank you both.
I can tell you Illiera that our drummer is quite amazing on drums actually. It's just that we dont like "advanced" drums in our kind of music so we wont let him do that ;D But if we would let him, he would blow your mind. And he' s only 15 years old so he will grow after three years of music-school :) Hehe He's also the one who gets the most commendation after our gigs, just because of his amazing drumming.

Cheers

Title: Re: Racecar Red
Post by: iliera on June 09, 2008, 02:47:11 am
well maybe yeah, too much drums wouldn't be that good in this kind of music.. but u could try sometimes?;)
btw who writes the songs?

Title: Re: Racecar Red
Post by: TeddyKGB on June 09, 2008, 08:09:27 am
Hehe ye we could try...but we won't :P
We write them all together. For exampel. One of the guitarists comes up with a riff or something like that, shows it to the group and then the whole group makes the rest of the song. But somtimes someone can make a whole song and then show it to the rest of the band :)

Back from the UKtour. Was really fun and a success.
We also recorded with Rory Attwell from Test Icicels(My favourite band through all times) Rat:att:agg and now Kasms. The recordings went great.
We are already planning a new tour since a couple of clubs and pubs already want us to come.

Our first gig was at Artrocker Club@Buffalo Bar.The gig got a 4/5 by the artrocker magazin which is one of the bigger musicmagazins in the UK.
Read the gigpreview here http://www.artrocker.com/node/1856 (http://www.artrocker.com/node/1856)
We also got in touch with a man who is a producer for the major label Universal. He liked us and would like to help us with vice versa to get us where we want to be.
This gig was ofcourse the most important. So i wont go in to detail with the other ones. Just that we got in contact with like 2 indie-labels who's a bit intersted. Hopefully this will lead us somewhere.

Oh and the new 4 tracks will be uploaded on our myspace in a near future. I'll let u know

Take care
Cheers

Its been a while and things didnt turn out as we hoped, the trip to London never took place because of really bad timing for that moment
BUT
We are going now in August and thats a fact, to do some gigs and have fun.
To celebrate this big event(!), we uploaded three new songs on our myspace.

I've listened to all songs that are available on myspace, including the new ones.

Synth isn't my favorite instrument in your songs. Maybe because they're not that usual in the Rock music I am usually listening too.
As I told you once, vocals aren't very loud. They are always covered with instruments. I remember that is your style, but I thought about it again when I listened to the new songs.

Anyway, it is quite nice in my opinion, as I told you before.
Good luck for your trip to London !

Question : Why is Arthur Rimbaud on one of the picture ? (tears and romantic eyes. I like the intro in that one by the way)

they are great!
I especially like Rcr (i guess "Racecar red" :P ). the tambourine part is to long IMO. (maybe 2 tacts are enough)
but the refraing is awesome.. i'll listen to this while im learning for my exams ;P

@calvi: you're right, the vocals could've been a bit louder, the synth is cool though. maybe a bit to loud in some parts, but still cool :D
I also like your vocal-effects!

Good luck in the UK, my friend

Cool stuff.

You guys are doing rather well for yourselves. Congratulations.

You guys have some pretty catchy songs. Not totally what I'm into, but I like it.

Aye everybody!

Its been a while and things didnt turn out as we hoped, the trip to London never took place because of really bad timing for that moment
BUT
We are going now in August and thats a fact, to do some gigs and have fun.
To celebrate this big event(!), we uploaded three new songs on our myspace.

www.myspace.com/racecarred (http://www.myspace.com/racecarred)

If you care to spare some time, take a listen and post your comments about it

Cheers

Can you post when and where those gigs will take place? ;D
